If I could sum 2019 in one word it would have to be, Perseverance. Definition of Perseverance is, “Doing something despite difficulty or delay in achieving success”. And DFW Emcee, AJ Chaka, has a gift of making, “Persevering”, look so easy! Back in the fall Chaka had the opportunity to have an interesting and insightful Q&A Interview with B-L1fe of SvpportArt. Check out the Q&A below:

2020 Vision, a Q&A on AJ Chaka by B-L1fe

B-L1fe:

So, you draw your musical influences from a wide spectrum of creatives. How does that wide variety of sounds show in your own music?

AJ Chaka:

I would have to say through my subject matter, and beat selection. When I pick beats, I don’t pick them & think, “Would such and such hop on this?” I look for beats that have character, and tell a story.

“I wrote Alpha in my head on some Hov & Weezy type ish.”

B-L1fe:

Do you purchase beats for what you are trying to create, or do you have a vault of beats stashed away to try and match your vibe?

AJ Chaka:

I do a mix of both. However, I usually collab with a producer in person, so we can build records from the bottom to the top.

B-L1fe:

On The Growth Tape how did you go about the beat selection, and what was your song writing process like for that EP?

AJ Chaka:

On The Growth Tape I had sessions in person with artist/producer Kobe Jacquin for the “Alpha” & “Split” tracks. However, for “C.C.” I met on the phone with Arizona based New York producer SKW through my manager Queen Ms.K.; we instantly connected and began collaborating on fire tracks, “C.C.”, happened to be the song that made it in the final cut of TGT. For, “Reflecting” I connected with Arizona producer Bean Supreme on Twitter. And, for “Glasses” I received the beat from talented Denton based producer CONDO of the OGA collective; I found out about him through a good colleague of mine! As far as my writing process; I wrote Alpha in my head on some Hov & Weezy type ish. The rest of the songs were written with the beats.

“I was at a crossroads with myself in High School”.

B-L1fe:

When did you know that music should be your focus, and what caused that realization?

AJ Chaka:

I was at a crossroads with myself in High School. In one hand I was holding onto the music, on the other hand I was holding onto another craft I excelled in. The feeling music gave me, was the ultimate deciding factor in knowing what my focus should be.

B-L1fe:

What was the other craft that you excelled at? And in what ways did it pale in comparison to being an artist?

AJ Chaka:

I used to wrestle. It compares to being an artist fluently in regards to having a strong work ethic.

B-L1fe:

What does the future hold for you in terms of music and creativity in general?

AJ Chaka:

The future holds so much for me my brother! I will continue getting booked for bigger and better shows. More music releases, amazing collaborations, modeling, more songwriting placements, hosting & just more dope content. Also, I’m working on album number one. This album is for all my family, friends & fans. They’ve been waiting patiently for a full length project from me for years now & in 2020 they will receive it!

“I’m ready to go toe to toe, with the best of the best in today’s Hip Hop/Rap world!”

B-L1fe:

What can you tell us about the album, or is all of that future news?

AJ Chaka:

The only thing I can say about the album is that, I am creating a future classic for my fans.

B-L1fe:

Will you be completely solo or do you have surprise features in store?

AJ Chaka:

I have a few features with artist that I am a fan of on this album.

B-L1fe:

What comes after the album for AJ Chaka?

AJ Chaka:

Fingers crossed that I will go on a big tour, and open up for a successful artists! I’m ready to go toe to toe, with the best of the best in today’s Hip Hop/Rap world!

B-L1fe:

Anything you would like to add to conclude your Q&A with Da Gas Block?

AJ Chaka:

Yes, thank you to Da Gas Block for this great Q&A, I really enjoyed it! I look forward to our next talk! My single “All Sides” is out now on all major platforms. Connect with me online, my social media is the same. Type “@ajchaka” and I will pop up. One love to everybody, have a Happy New Year, and I will see you all in 2020!

Rent Money. Rent Money, Rent Money!!!

What an action packed weekend for the Neo Gold Team! Last Saturday the 14th was the day of #RentMoney2, an underground Hip Hop show with a secret location in Dallas, TX, Sponsored by Adidas Football and hosted by Dallas emcee, Rikki Blu.

“#RentMoney2 brought a crowd that appreciates Hip Hop in its most authentic form”.

#RentMoney2 brought a crowd that appreciates Hip Hop in its most authentic form. There were a few steps at #RentMoney2 such as; Grab a mic, spit bars, and rock the crowd… That’s the formula (No D.O.C.). Dallas Emcees Scuttino, AJ Chaka, Dibbi Blood, Daze, Jae’R Tha Geek, OG Byrd, and more turned the room up big time. Also, Tenneseee native Mic Carr had an exceptional performance as well.

However, when Rikki Blu grabbed the mic, he showed the crowd why he is still one of Dallas most favorite emcees today, as he performed many of his personal & fan favorite songs at the packed #RentMoney2 event!

“Dallas next stars showed their early star power”!

Scuttino & AJ Chaka showed Dallas that lyricism on break beats isnot dead, in fact it is alive and well going into the next generation of Dallas Music! Upon reflecting on the event, you should look forward to hearing all the artist who performed at #RentMoney2, I’d be willing to bet that a few of Dallas next stars showed their early star power!

Strength In Numbers concert (Recap)

STRENGTH IN NUMBERS CONCERT - THE RAIL CLUB

“No matter what age, sex, race that you come from; you can still be Hip Hop”.

This past Sunday, December 15th, Next Level Internet Radio proved yet again that there is Strength In Numbers in the Dallas/Fort Worth Hip Hop Scene, with another great event created by Douglas Elliot & Loco Conroe, at The Rail Club Live in Ft Worth. This concert teaches a lesson in the fact that, “No matter what age, sex, or race that you come from; you can still be Hip Hop”.

From the moment we walked in The Rail Club Live, Neo Gold Entertainment received a lot of love from the artists & staff. Ms.K had an opportunity to connect with the OGs in the building, that was a great moment to witness for North Texas Hip Hop. Upon arrival we immediately recognized some familiar faces from the DFW Hip Hop Scene such as: Bama White, Complete The Emcee, Kinfolk Jack, OG KottonMouth Jesse, Duece Freight amongst many more.

The Future

“NAHFAM, can be stars of Hip Hop in today’s day and age”.

You would really be impressed with some of the newer talent that we seen perform for the first time. Somebody has to be honest with the fact that, NAHFAM, can be stars of Hip Hop in today’s day and age. They kinda remind you of the Beastie Boys, Kid N Play, and the Fresh Prince with modern production and lyricism. In addition, Dem Ledesma Boyz of Wichita Falls, had a good performance, showcasing their niche style music. NSG Stacks, performed with a lot of energy as expected, the young Rapper from Memphis has been building a name in the DFW for his heartfelt performances. Kinfolk Jack brought smooth Rider vibes to the stage last Sunday, I look forward to hearing more cool vibes from Jack in 2020. It was good to see Bama White open the show with his mix of Boom Bap & Trap, he did a great job of hosting the event. J Diggs Tha Prodigy came with the bars, look, and vibes.

“All the OGs held it down this past Sunday”

All the OGs held it down this past Sunday as well: Da U.A. showed that Hip Hop is not just a young mans game with their head bopping performance, that was easily the highlight of the concert. Complete The Emcee stole the show as well with his intricate lyricism and beat selection. Shoutout to the Queen’s Murdah Mamis for bringing feisty-ness to the stage as well. Duece Freight represented the show Sunday night with an Explosive performance of the, “Drugs, Sex & RockNRoll”, record! The quirkiness of PikaHsSo brought an energy to the stage with his alternative boom bap style production & bars, he took the crown for being the most interesting artist of the night (In my Opinion). M. Wells, rocked the stage with his own banging production, his rhymes were dope too, stay on the lookout for M. Wells in the near future. Marco Polo was in the building Sunday night enjoying the music, it is confirmed he will be releasing new music. In addition, Marco will be hosting the upcoming Red Hot Christmas Comedy Special. And, special shout out to DJ Dogstyle for the blessing the 1s & 2s, it was an honor to watch a true master level DJ at work!

The Staff

Special thanks to Next Level Internet Radio Station, for the great event, there is a lot of potential for bigger & better venues. It was great meeting Manuscript of Tri Coastal Radio and his Team; its great to see so many Black: radio owners, producers and DJs at one event, the process of Unification is alive, and artist are going to reap the benefits in the coming decade (The new Golden Age)! The Rail Club Live staff were very kind and professional.

Yum Yum

Ladies & Gentlemen, Queen V of Queenz Catering, showed up and showed out, with her infamous and banging nachos, topped off with the amazing and mouth watering, “PikaHsSo” (Banana Pudding), which is named after the artist, PikaHsSo. Now, as Lyfe Jennings would say… “Must Be Nice“, to have a dish named after you.

Neo Gold Entertainment/Music Group is looking forward to the forthcoming, Next Level Internet Radio concert, created by Doug Elliot & Loco Conroe. Special shout out to all the performers such as: OG KottonMouth Jesse, PikHasSo, Da U.A., Complete The Emcee, Dewhya, M. Wells, Murdah Mamis, The Remedy, G. Champion, Kinfolk Jack, Dem Ledesma Boyz, NAHFAM, Everyday Tony, Celebrity, Team Playa, NSG Stacks, PV22, J Diggs Tha Prodigy, and ADAY. You can support these great artist by: Buying/Streaming their music, purchasing their merchandise, buying tickets from their events, like/sharing their content on social media.
